Kevin T. Hawes
I started my career in mechanical design drafting at GE Aircraft Engines in Lynn, MA. While there I went to art school nights at Vesper George School of Art in Boston, MA. At school I was introduced to the art media of scratchboard. Scratchboard is a black ink coated clay board, which you scratch the ink away with scratching tools, this process will expose the white clay below.
Again while at GE, I was introduced to CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing). After a 10 year stint at GE, I left to join a pioneer in the field of CAD/CAM, ComputerVision (CV). At CV, I became a Sr. Technical Sales Support Specialist. I spent most of my career within this world in sales, consulting and training. I enjoyed every aspect of my CAD/CAM career.
Now, I am back at enjoying my other passion, which is scratchboard. I mostly enjoy creating scratchboard renderings of people's pets, both past and present. It seems to give people joy in seeing my creation of their pet, as well as I get great satisfaction of seeing and hearing of their reaction.
